Searcy City Council Passes 1% Tax, Refers to Voters

Tonight at a special meeting, the Searcy City Council voted unanimously to pass a 1% tax for 15 months. The tax will go before Searcy voters on December 13th and, if approved, would go into effect on April 1, 2012. It is intended to fund the completion of the north bypass around the city and other street improvements.

I will post more information about the ordinance, including a digital copy, and a recap of tonight’s meeting tomorrow morning.

In the mean time, you can check my Twitter feed for tweets from the meeting.
