I received this press release from Mr. Bill Haynie this morning:
Haynie Announces Candidacy for White County Judge
“It’s time to rebuild White County”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 4, 2011
Searcy, AR – Today, long-time White County business owner Bill Haynie has officially announced his candidacy for White County Judge. Bill and his wife Judith own & operate Haynie Utility Construction in Searcy.
Haynie served White County as the first chairman of the Office of Emergency Management Board for nearly ten years. For the last eight years, he has served as chairman of the Central Arkansas Drug Task force. Now he feels it is time for him to step up his role in public leadership.
“We need new ideas for rebuilding our county and getting our county working again by creating an environment that is welcoming to new businesses, including encouraging new gas exploration,” Haynie said. “I do not agree with some of the actions of the current judge. I was against his tax proposal that the voters defeated in September of this year. It was excessive & unnecessary. The county has plenty of money. We have to do a better job of managing what we have. With that said, I am committed to running a positive, issues-based campaign that will highlight the differences between the current judge and myself.
“We need a judge that is serious about rebuilding our county—from our roads, to our bridges, to our communities that have been plagued by the use of illegal drugs. As your next White County Judge, I will instate an aggressive road program to deal with the infrastructure challenges we face. My experience in the construction industry uniquely qualifies me to start bringing our infrastructure up to date,” Haynie said.
“I would also like to see the county place a higher emphasis on drug awareness and abuse prevention. We have to get serious about keeping drugs out of our schools if we want to stop the erosion of our communities and begin rebuilding our core values.”
Haynie also stressed the importance of working together. “I pledge to treat all members of the court and county government with respect, regardless of political party or personal differences. We can disagree strongly and still treat each other with dignity. It is time that we all come together and get started rebuilding White County.”
Bill Haynie will seek the Republican nomination for White County Judge.
